Abstract
“Atherosclerosis is”, according to the definition of the WHO in 1968, “a variable combination of changes of the intima, consisting of the focal accumulation of lipids, complex carbohydrates, blood and blood constituents, fibrous tissue and calcium deposits, combined with changes of the media.”
