Abstract
In 1981, the Review Body on Doctors’ and Dentists’ Remuneration (DDRB) contained a section in the chapter on general medical practitioners (GMPs) entitled “Workload and Stress.” It concluded: “We are not convinced on the evidence so far presented to us, which has been largely of an unquantified nature, that there has been a significant increase in workload; but we shall examine this matter more specifically next year.” No further comment was made about stress.
