Abstract
Dopamine is a catecholamine neurotransmitter in the central nervous system (CNS) which might also have a neurotransmitter role at some ganglia in the autonomic nervous system. Most of our knowledge of the functional role of dopamine is in relation to the CNS, relatively little being known about its possible function(s) peripherally. In both the peripheral and central nervous system, dopamine is a precursor of noradrenaline and adrenaline.
