Abstract
This chapter contains a discussion of four medical problems found in children: seizures, asthma, obesity, and hyperactivity. Although there is no common etiological thread for these four disorders, they are linked by the following: (1) they are prevalent among children; (2) the first line of therapy is generally through the pediatrician; (3) each problem can affect the child academically, socially, and medically; and (4) one of the first lines of treatment is generally the use of some pharmacological agent.
