Abstract

The term “release agent” or “parting agent” or “lubricant” is used to describe a wide variety of chemicals which provide a barrier between a mold and the surface of a part being molded. (See Table 23.1). There are two basic types of release agents, internal and external. An internal release agent is an additive which goes directly into the resin formulation. An external release agent is applied to the surface of the mold.
