Abstract
Signs of puberty such as breast development, axillary and pubic hair, and menarche before the age of 8 indicate precocious puberty or sexual precocity. The variation in time of onset of puberty makes it difficult in some cases to differentiate normal from abnormal. The syndrome is observed in 1 to 20,000 girls. It is four times more frequent in girls than in boys.
