Abstract
It is well known that the Cd++ ion strongly influences the crystallization of NaCl: from a pure aqueous solution, NaC1 crystallizes as cubes {100}, but the presence of Cd promotes its crystallization as octahedra {111}. This change of morphology is due to a change in the growth mechanism of {111} through adsorption of Cd++ on this face. In general we know only the total amount of Cd++ present in the whole system, but we do not know the quantities which are effectively adsorbed on the crystal. This point is the scope of this work, in which we measure in aqueous solution the adsroption of Cd++ on {100} and {111} of NaC1 by a radiometric method.
