Abstract
Because of various influences of extracorporeal circulation patients undergoing open heart surgery have to be specially monitored. Complications of lung function, heart and circulatory failure in the post-operative phase require an intensive and continuous monitoring of the vital parameters. The assessment and display of vital parameters for estimation of the actual cardiovascular status and for trend determination is simplified in a computer assisted intensive care unit.
