Abstract
A computerised data register and processor used in the care of mechanically ventilated patients should fulfil the following functions:

Optimal monitoring of the ventilation of every patient.

The connection of the parameters of the mechanics, hemodynamics and bloodgases to the characteristics of each patient.

Alphanumeric and graphic presentation of the registered and calculated data.
