Abstract
Bruxism is the forceful rubbing together of teeth when an individual is not chewing food. This hyperactivity of the masticatory muscles, which is manifested by habitual clenching, grinding, and isometric contraction of the muscles, is essentially a maladaptive psychophysiological response to stress (Cannistraci, 1976).
