Abstract

In 1977 the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) established its chemicals testing programme. One of the aims was to prepare state-of-the-art reports on test methods and guidelines that could be used to predict the effects of chemicals on humans and the environment. Since then, a suite of test guidelines has been produced and implemented for international use, in particular within the OECD, the European Union, and the Environmental Protection Agency of the United States of America
