Abstract
Array codes were introduced by Elias [49] and have been proposed for many burst and random error-control applications [11,12,14,15, 34,52,54,71,80,155, 198]. Array codes are most often binary, but in general, they have symbols from the field of q elements,GF(q), where q is an integer power of a prime number. In this Chapter we consider only binary (q = 2) array codes.
