Abstract
Chapter 8 by Gijsbert van Liemt gives a clear overview of the benefits and policy challenges for the EU Member States associated with globalization, with particular focus on labour issues. His claim that workers often perceive globalization as a risk is correct — this is a fact of life which is not adequately addressed by part of the research community. More generally, most OECD countries are facing a rise in unemployment and/or growing wage inequalities and this is a matter for policy concern.
