Abstract
In the nuclear industry, with its great cost and time overruns (in the 1980s plants), quality control has been developed to the most exacting standards. An important precedent for the development of a quality assurance program is found in the ANSI/ASME NQA-1 standard, “Quality Assurance Program Requirements for Nuclear Facilities,” which encompasses the following elements:
-
Qualification of inspection,examination,and testing personnel
-
Requirements for the collection and maintenance of QA records
-
QA terms and definitions
-
Auditing of quality assurance programs
-
Quality assurance for control of procurement
