Abstract

The total western European market demand for fixed voice telephony, plain old telephony services (POTS) and narrowband integrated services digital network (N-ISDN), is expected to increase only marginally over the next few years. However, the demand in the developing European countries is expected to increase significantly. The two major factors affecting the new demand for POTS are the economic growth and demographic changes. Commercial ISDN facilities are now offered in an increasing number of European countries.
