Abstract
IP multicast has had a tremendous impact on networking research over the last decade since S. Deering [D88] first proposed a complete solution for network-level multicasting over the Internet. It is slowly extending its tentacles in the commercial world as well. As IP multicast-based services are becoming commercial, researchers are busy working on newer dimensions in the multicast problem space. This chapter is dedicated to a cursory review of some of the new ideas in multicasting.
