At MIT, a reengineering team charged with developing a new business model for providing publishing services has a unique opportunity for promoting innovative information management1 at the Institute. There are two stories which unfold in this presentation. The first is a chronicle of the team’s work, including a brief history of events and a sketch of the new business model. The second is a description of opportunities for innovative information management which the new business concept affords. In conclusion are the lessons learned in this work.
