Abstract
The effects of superthermals on ECE T e -measurements in the core plasma of ITER are investigated on the basis of a model distribution function for which a generalized Kirchhof’s law is valid. On varying both the spatial profiles and the position of the superthermals, the feasibility of T e -measurements using the first harmonic ordinary-mode as well as the second harmonic extraordinarymode is assessed in respect to the accuracy requirement set by ITER.
