Abstract
Every year since 1962 I have run a technical meeting called the Bayesian Conference. Its original purpose was to help psychologists interested in doing research on Bayesian ideas to check out those ideas and the research that they wanted to do in an informal, relaxed way. The meeting came to be much more than that; it became a place where scientists interested in nonstatistical implications of Bayesian thinking could discuss those interests with researchers from a very wide variety of substantive disciplines in a relaxed, friendly, and informal atmosphere.
