Abstract
This chapter uses two short examples to introduce how PLI applications are cre-phis using the VPI routines. The first example will allow a Verilog simulator to execute the ubiquitous Hello World C program. The second example uses the PLI to access specific activity within a Verilog simulation, by listing the name and current logic value of a Verilog signal. The purpose of these examples is to introduce how to write a PLI application using the library of VPI routines in the PLI standard. Subsequent chapters in this part of the book build on the concepts presented in this chapter and show how to write more complex PLI applications.
