Abstract

Of the 2,828 patients reported in 1997 from the North American Pediatric Renal Transplant Cooperative Study (NAPRTCS) dialysis data base, 1326 or 46.9% are over the age of thirteen. Fifty-four percent or 729 of these adolescents are being treated with some form of peritoneal dialysis. Although, these 729 patients represent 26% of the entire (NAPRTCS) data base and therefore presumable a similar percent of the entire pediatric dialysis population, few studies of this specific patient group have been undertaken.(1)
