Abstract
This chapter addresses the application of direct digital control (DDC) systems to common HVAC control situations and focuses on how DDC can be used to enhance HVAC system performance. The intent is to apply the power of digital control systems to create “intelligent” HVAC systems that can automatically adapt to environmental and system changes. In addition to system operating improvements, a strong emphasis toward energy conservation is incorporated into the control designs.
