The Isospin Dependence of Transverse Flow
Collective transverse flow can provide information about nuclear reactions at intermediate energy and details of the nuclear equation of state (EOS)[1, 2]. One of the most compelling observables related to transverse flow is the incident energy at which the attractive mean field balances the repulsive nucleon-nucleon scattering. This energy is called the balance energy, E bal , and can be related to various properties of the EOS through transport models such as the Boltzmann-Uehling-Uehlenbeck (BUU) model. In this paper, we will relate E bal to the in-medium nucleon-nucleon scattering cross sections [4, 5].
