Abstract

The method, to measure calcium signals in various cells using the fluorescence label FURA-2 was often used also to investigate the influence of electromagnetic fields on signal transduction mechanisms in cells. Up to now, however, no data were published of the dose of UV-irradiation, applied by this method. We continued previously published experiments (Ihrig et al. 97), developing a method to measure this dose, and investigating the effect of electric fields and the UVA-irradiation. To some degree both effects seem to act synergistically.
