Overview of Microcirculatory Oxygen Measurements and their Contribution to Our Understanding of Oxygen Delivery to Tissue
It is well recognized that advances in science are highly dependent upon advances in instrumentation. Many examples could be given but for present purposes we can focus on the impact of new methodology on our understanding of the delivery of oxygen to tissue. On a moment-by-moment basis the most important function of the circulatory system is oxygen delivery to the tissues.
