Abstract
The first observations of impact polarization in the optically active region of solar flares, presented in this chapter, were conducted by the Meudon group. The significance of these data and general conclusions are very important in connection with the fact that detailed spectropolarimetric information was obtained and analyzed together with X-ray observations. Such a comprehensive approach can provide a clearer and deeper understanding of the evolution of a flare and the determination of the flare phase.
