The Soil Conservation Service’s New Water Quality Indicators Guide

  • Charles R. Terrell

The Soil Conservation Service (SCS) is actively involved in agriculturally related water quality issues. In recent years, as the public became aware of surface and ground water problems, the SCS has responded with new and innovative technologies for agricultural nonpoint source treatment. As part of the new technology, the SCS developed the Water Quality Indicators Guide: Surface Waters (Guide) to aid in finding solutions to water quality problems associated with sediment, animal wastes, nutrients, pesticides, and salts.
