Abstract
Although the turbo code analysis predicts high coding gain for magnetic recording channels, the implementation is still a significant challenge because of the decoding complexity and the delay. Therefore, research on other types of codes that provide less coding gain, but are easier to implement, is necessary. This chapter explores a simple code that provides good coding gain at very high code rate.
