A Fuel of the Future: Natural Gas

  • Ferdinand E. Banks

This chapter presents a brief, up-to-date analysis of the world natural gas market. Along with a sketch of supply, demand, and price, some consideration will be given to the deregulation-privatization controversy. The most striking thing about this issue is that it does not deal with deregulation as such, but with reregulation: the changing of rules. Similarly, the question is not privatization, since most gas companies are already in private hands, but ‘fragmentization’.
