Abstract
THE CLASSICAL BEHAVIOR OF ELECTRIC AND MAGNETIC fields is described by Maxwell’s equations. For any region where the permittivity ε and permeability μ are fixed, the equations are linear. Then in any wave, each frequency v is independent. By the way, specifying a frequency implies that the wave, when not diverging, is sinusoidal in space and time.
