Study of Mass A=130 Fission Fragments in the 14n + 238U Reaction at 10 MeV/A

The Nucleus

Abstract

Fission fragments in the mass A≈130 region, lying close to the ß-stability line, were produced in the 14N + 238U fusion-fission reaction at 10 MeV/A. The 14N beam was delivered by the Separated Sector Cyclotron at the National Accelerator Centre, Cape Town, South Africa. The γ-rays of the fission fragments were detected by the AFRODITE spectrometer. The X-ray LEPS detectors were used for element selection and γ-X-ray coincidences for fragment identification.
