Abstract

The background: Maximum Motors Incorporated had a spotty history of cyclical profits. For the past several years, there had been a tremendous growth in its markets because of the increase in world demand for small powered equipment. However, Maximum never seemed to be able to deliver as fast or as well as its competition. Its reputation in the field for product quality and integrity was excellent but deliveries were almost always late. Therefore, any growth in sales occurred after competing companies had completely filled their order books, leaving the remainder to Maximum.
