Abstract

At the end of 1991 Infratest carried out a representative survey concerning ‘possibilities and limits of an independent conduct of life’ on behalf of the Federal Ministry for Family Affairs and Elderly People. Actual planning data is available on number and situation of people who are dependent on help and care living in private households [Schneekloth/Potthoff (1993)]. Some selected results of this large population survey will be presented in the following sections.
