Abstract
To demonstrate the mechanism of decrease in proteinuria after cyclosporine A (CYA) therapy, the ultrastructural alterations of glomerular anionic sites (AS) were studied in puromycin nehrotic rats using Polyethylenimine (PEI) as a cationic probe. CYA not only inhibited the increase in proteinuria induced by puromycin, but also recovered the decreased glomerular AS up to the control level. These results indicate that recovery of glomerular polyanion is a principal mecanism of decrease in proteinuria in CYA treatment.
