Recent Developments in Low-Energy Nucleon-Nucleon Interaction Studies

  • Chapter
Spin and Isospin in Nuclear Interactions

Abstract

Even after decades of intensive work on nucleon-nucleon (NN) scattering, there are still unanswered, basic questions about subtle details of the NN interaction at low energies. In this talk “low energy” refers to nucleon laboratory energies of less than 100 MeV. The answers to these questions are important since they are related to the fate of modern, meson-exchange based NN potential models. Of course, any significant new developments at low energies will also have an impact on the parameterization and understanding of the NN interaction at higher energies.
