Abstract
In many situations where people are being treated on an outpatient basis for substance abuse, the personality configuration often recognized is that which has been labeled the Borderline Personality. Specifically, for the purposes of our discussion, the primary personality organization is that described by Kernberg (1) and Masterson (2), as the Borderline Personality Organization.
