A power train is all of the mechanical devices used to transfer power through a machine. Common devices are pulleys, sprockets, shafts, bearings, gears, belts, and chains. These devices are used to deliver power to the individual components of a machine and to change it to meet each component's requirement. Changes in speed, direction of rotation, or torque may be needed. This chapter will illustrate some of the principles of power trains and provide examples of how these principles are used.
