Abstract
A number of state-of-the-art reviews of medical waste management were written in 1990 and 1991 (Theodore 1990, Barton et al. 1990, Lauber and Drum 1990, Doucet 1991, Lee et al. 1991). The 1991 meeting in Vancouver of the Air and Waste Management Association (AWMA) added many others to this list, including papers that discussed general approaches (Almaula; Chang; Wollschlager and Casey; Lee and Huffman; Pasek and Chang; Schifftner; Siebert and Alston-Guiden; Rice and Hester; Jordan, Konheim and McGrane; Bulley; Green et al.). Also presented were many papers that focused on specific air pollution control devices (Hasselriis, Corbus and Kasinathan; Teller and Hsieh; Riley, Knoche and Vicinus; Maxwell; Lerner).
