Abstract
A series of studies were carried out on HeLa cell mitochondria to determine (1) the likely pathways for carbon flux from glutamate, (2) the significance of malic enzyme activity, (3) the significance of pyruvate dehydrogenase activity, and finally (4) the significance of the truncated TCA cycle in HeLa cells (Coleman and Lavietes, 1981).
