Abstract

Photosynthetic formation of reduction equivalents is achieved by the reduction of NADP+ with water as the electron donor. In this reaction water is split and oxygen is the oxidation product. Molecular oxygen is formed by the abstraction of 2 electrons from each of the two water molecules.
