Abstract
Plant cells, like all other eukaryotic cells, contain various compartments, organelles, which serve to separate the different metabolic processes. All organelles are enclosed by one or two semipermeable membranes, constituted of lipids and proteins. Most of these proteins are involved in the import and export of a large variety of molecules.
