Selfconsistent Semiclassical Mean Field

Abstract

We propose a method to obtain a selfconsistent semiclassical mean field for a given two body interaction. For the direct term the Thomas-Fermi method applied to the Coulomb potential is generalized to other potentials and we discuss the possibility to improve them going up to order ħ 2. For the exchange term the Slater approximation is improved using the Density Matrix Expansion.
