Flow Analysis for Determination of Hydrogen Peroxide in Environmental Water by the Use of Biomimetric Functional Resin

Abstract

We have developed a novel method of flow analysis for hydrogen peroxide, which is applicable to environmental water samples, including rain. The present method is based on the measurement of the absorbance of dye formed by the following reaction using an anion-exchange resin functionalized with manganese (M)- tetrakis(sulfophenyl)porphine (Mn-TPPS r )as a catalyst instead of horseradish peroxidase.

\[\begin{gathered} 4 -Aminoantipyrine Phenol (or4-Chlorophenol)+2}H_2}{O_2} \hfill\\ \frac{{Mn TPPSrorperoxidase}}{{Quinoiddye+4{H_2}O}} \hfill\\ \end{gathered}\]

The use of Mn-TPPSr is more advantageous than that of enzyme in stability of the catalyst. The present method is satisfactory in reproducibility, of procedure, sensitivity, and significant for the investigation of the rain problem.
