Abstract

Since their introduction at the end of the 1960s, switch-mode power supplies (SMPSs) have become progressively popular, up to the point at which the vast majority of today’s electronic equipment uses this type of regulator. With regard to EMI, this type of power supply has always been a serious concern, primarily because of its conducted emissions but, to a lesser extent, its radiated emissions. The first aspect is covered extensively in Ref. 10, by J. Fluke, a book which is more or less a parent of the present one. Therefore, we will concentrate on radiated field generation and suppression.
