Abstract

We have previously reported on simultaneous monitoring of neutron fluence rate during boron-neutron capture therapy1–5. In these methods, only neutron fluence rate in the locations of the detectors can be monitored.Although the in vitro and in vivo measurements of boron-10 content in blood and tissue by prompt gamma rays give additional information6-7, the estimated dose is obtained rather indirectly. Direct dose distribution measurement is more desirable. Acoustic pulse generation phenomenon seems to be one of the candidates for the purpose.
