Abstract
The case of a tunnel 14 km long, with 3.5 m diameter, driven by TBM in metamorphic rocks, as a part of an hidro-power project in North Italy, is described.
A more detailed analysis is carried out for the central stretch, around 3800 m, where it has been possible to compare different rock classification methods, pertaining to boreability and to stability.
In this stretch the rock classification according to the Austrian norms system and the Wickham Rock Structure Rating were available; based on these data, a boreability classification developed by the authors in previous studies has been checked for reliability, by comparing actual advance rates to the predicted values.
