Endo-5’-Nucleotidase Activity in Lymphocytes from Healthy Subjects and Leukemia Patients

  • Chapter
Purine and Pyrimidine Metabolism in Man VIII

Abstract

The dephosphorylation of nucleoside 5’-monophosphates is catalyzed by 5’-nucleotidase (EC 3.1.3.5). This reaction is considered to be the first committed and irreversible step in the purine nucleotide degradation pathway in many animal and plant tissues. Its behaviour differs from one type of cell to another and seems to be linked to cell maturation in B and T lymphocytes1.
