While characterizing the background of HCI evaluation in Chapter 1, summarizing HCI design methodology in Chapter 2, and describing other prerequisite knowledge areas in the chapters of Part II, we have built up a backdrop for the purpose of this chapter: to present the approaches and methods for evaluating the products of HCI design. Use of relevant terminology was scattered throughout earlier chapters and then pulled together and defined in Chapter 6.
