Abstract
A lot of digital designs start at the behavior level, where designers describe the desired functionality algorithmically, where functionality is described by which operations must occur. During the design process, the system is partitioned into several less complex subsystems. Each subsystem is in turn partitioned into submodules until the submodules can either be mapped to existing modules (design re-use) or have well defined functionality and interfaces.
