Abstract
The lithium-lead eutectic alloy, Pb-17Li, has been proposed as liquid breeder material in both water-cooled [1-5] and self cooled [3, 6, 7] blanket designs for future fusion reactors because of its relatively low freezing point (508 K; 235 °C) [8], its relatively low reactivity towards water [9, 10] and air [9] and its intrinsic neutron multiplication [11].
